Fall Drive Tuesday, Winter Storm Wednesday

On Tuesday, Milt, Alec, and I had the pleasure of enjoying fall at its height of glorious color. We decided to drive the Alpine Loop in the Unita Forest. We began at the Timpanogus Entrance and ended up near The Sundance Ski Resort. We had lunch at the grill at The Sundance Resort. Alec was wonderful on the drive and in the restaurant. This is a photo gallery of the magnificent show of color that we saw that day. Fall was just like a peacock proudly fanning its tail. The colors were brilliant and almost iridescent. It was 86 degrees on Tuesday. Late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning a big snow storm covered the canyon areas and benches with 6 inches to 1 foot of snow. The temperature was 37 degrees. What a difference in the weather in such a short time frame. I’m so glad we were able to enjoy the day this Tuesday before all of the leaves were blown away with the winds that accompanied the storm at 30 to 40 miles per hour. Fall began on the 22nd of September but winter is close behind and on the heels of fall.
