On March 21st, our church celebrated Easter because fast Sunday was on the 27th and General Conference falls on Easter Sunday this year. General Conference is where we listen to the leaders of our church and the message is broadcast to the members all over the world. There are no regular meetings held at Ward Houses.
It was a beautiful and very sunny day so I decided to take the nursery children outside to play. It was a “real spring day” which is very rare this early in the season, especially here in Utah. The children had a delightful time and I was able to capture some adorable pictures of these angelic children.
Sophie and all the other children really did not appreciate the sun in their eyes. Unfortunately, this was about the only place I could take their pictures. There are really harsh shadows on their faces and the children didn’t want to look up.
I love working with the children in nursery. They are precious souls and it is a privilege to have this calling. We teach them simple gospel principles like: learning about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, loving each other, loving their families, sharing, kindness, etc.,
I would like to share an excerpt from a talk about the little children by Elder William Rolfe Kerr of the Seventy from October 1996 General Conference called, “Behold Your Little Ones.”
Following His Crucifixion and Resurrection, Jesus Christ visited, taught, and blessed the righteous inhabitants of ancient America. The Book of Mormon records those glorious events and stands as another testament of the divinity of Jesus Christ and of the reality of His Resurrection. As the Savior taught and blessed those faithful people, He invited them to bring their little children to Him and to set them round about Him. He then knelt and prayed with words so marvelous and great they could not be written—words which filled the souls of the people with inconceivable joy. The sacred record tells us that Jesus said unto the multitude:
“Blessed are ye because of your faith. “And now behold, my joy is full. “And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them. “And when he had done this he wept again; “And he spake unto the multitude, and said unto them: Behold your little ones”
3 Nephi 17:20-23 (emphasis added).
I too, like the Savior have a great love for the children.
May you have blessed Easter celebration this weekend.
