The last few weeks have been very difficult for our family. Beyond the normal stress of life we have two more challenges. My father has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We are all so saddened by the news. He has been in the hospital these past five days because he is dehydrated, has no appetite, low blood pressure, low kidney function, and is very yellow. The doctors have run lots of tests and performed surgery on Thursday to put in a stint to release the bile from his body. We are facing a wait and see game to see if his kidney function improves before we will know if he can have a very difficult surgery called, “WHIPPLE.”
Today Nichelle is having a difficult surgery on her very long road to recovery so that she might walk again. I have lost track of how many surgeries she has had these past 2 years. Today’s surgery is realigning muscles and tendons, inserting pins and screws in her foot in another effort to straighten her foot so she can stand on it once again.
At times like this the only thing that will bring me peace and the desire to keep going is to rely on our Savior Jesus Christ. When Jesus died for us He suffered all of our pains, sorrows, disappointments, and life’s challenges in Gethsemane. Please pray for our family because only through pray can we face each new day.
The video talks about our Savior’s greatest sacrifice and below are a few quotes from President Thomas S. Monson’s talk.
“In our hour of deepest sorrow, we can receive profound peace from the words of the angel that first Easter morning: ‘He is not here: for he is risen.’”
“As one of His special witnesses on earth today, this glorious Easter Sunday, I declare that this is true, in His sacred name—even the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior—amen.”
