I love to see a blazing kaleidoscope of colors in a setting sunset.
The pink, orange, purple, violet and yellow fashion a palette of oil pastels in the pristine evening.
The colors fuel my imagination with fluid dreams to fill my mind with creativity and a hope for a better day.
Oh, if I could paint a sky just like I saw tonight.
The scene would bring hope to those who need their spirits lifted.
My faith becomes enhanced to know that we indeed live in a beautiful world that was created for those who are willing to take a chance on living. It is hard not to become discouraged by the trials and testing that we must endure.
I am devastated by the explosions on this patriot’s day in Boston, Massachusetts during the annual marathon event.
Why are the evildoers trying to hurt the innocent and destroy our courage?
Good always does and always will prevail. Yes, we have set backs but just as our Savior was tested on earth so shall we endure the same testing.
I am saddened by the senseless loss of life and loved ones today. Many are troubled by those who are suffering from this evil act.
It is important that we remember to keep in perspective the importance of hope for a better day. I pray for comfort and peace for those who need the Lord’s love to overcome this saddened state we all feel due to such shocking acts of terrorism. I have a found a few words that might help each of us to face the next day after such tragedies. These are words by Richard G. Scott and the entire article can be found at the following link:
“All things must come to pass in their time. [God knew the challenges we would face when He gave this counsel.]
“Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.
“Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days.” 3
That is a priceless promise. As you continue to center your mind and heart in Him, He will help you have a rich and full life no matter what happens in the world around you.
Paul wisely taught, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” 4
Avoid worldly wickedness. Know that God is in control. In time, Satan will completely fail and be punished for his perverse evil. God has a specific plan for your life. He will reveal parts of that plan to you as you look for it with faith and consistent obedience. His Son has made you free—not from the consequences of your acts, but free to make choices. God’s eternal purpose is for you to be successful in this mortal life. No matter how wicked the world becomes, you can earn that blessing. Seek and be attentive to the personal guidance given to you through the Holy Spirit. Continue to be worthy to receive it. Reach out to others who stumble and are perplexed, not certain of what path to follow.”
“Now the brighter side. Despite pockets of evil, the world overall is majestically beautiful, filled with many good and sincere people. God has provided a way to live in this world and not be contaminated by the degrading pressures evil agents spread throughout it. You can live a virtuous, productive, righteous life by following the plan of protection created by your Father in Heaven: His plan of happiness. It is contained in the scriptures and in the inspired declarations of His prophets. He clothed your intelligence with spirit and made it possible for you to enjoy the wonder of a physical body. When you use that body in the way He has decreed, you will grow in strength and capacity, avoid transgression, and be abundantly blessed.”
I must look for beautiful sunsets to help me overcome the sadness that I feel today.
