Last week Julie texted me and mentioned that it was too bad that we hadn’t planned better so we could be at Disneyland at the same time. We have been able to make our schedules coordinate for the last couple of years. Chelsea loves the “scary rides” like Tower of Terror. Julie doesn’t care for those type of rides and neither do we really. Chelsea will go on the rides continuously, as many times as the line will allow. When Craig has to leave California to return to work , Milt and I will “brave” the ride for Chelsea. She doesn’t make any noise during the rides but she makes the funniest facial expressions and as we are exiting she will softly say, “Again.” We love that girl!
Our original travel plans were to leave Salt Lake on Monday to arrive in San Diego on Friday. We were going to detour to help the Parrish’s with the completion of their greenhouse but they had some workers finish the task before our arrival. Milt had cleared his schedule even though we didn’t need to leave early now.
When Julie texted and told us that we should have done a better job of coordinating our trips, I quickly replied that we actually could come earlier. We left Monday and arrived in California on Tuesday afternoon. The Pacini’s were so generous to share their condo with us. It worked out perfectly for both for us. They were leaving Friday to return to Salt Lake and we were leaving to arrive in San Diego for our scheduled week.
We had a fantastic time, as always, with Craig, Julie and Chelsea. We were able to celebrate Chelsea’s 23rd birthday at Disneyland. How lucky is she to celebrate at “the happiest place on earth?” The Pacini’s arrived in Salt Lake safely with only one “major” problem. They spent the night in Las Vegas at a very nice hotel. When Craig went to load the suitcases in the car the next morning, he noticed that his back window was smashed in and all of Chelsea’s birthday presents and family gifts were stolen. Everything they had bought had Disneyland was taken. The Disneyland sacks were covered with a blanket and everything else was taken inside the hotel. The Pacini’s and one other car from Salt Lake were the only 2 cars vandalized. How sad is that?
After a visit to the Las Vegas police station and stopping to get the back window shrink wrapped, the journey continued around 3:30pm rather than first thing in the morning as planned. They arrived late that evening to their home with only one stop at Home Depot for duct tape to adhere the shrink wrap that had been compromised by the wind.
We really enjoyed our time with the Pacini’s and are so thankful for friendship. True friends will always be treasured!
