He Is A Wise One!

As we were driving down the highway and I noticed this beautiful and mysterious great horned owl relaxing on the fence post. We had to turn around so I could get some photos of this elusive raptor. Owls are usually not out and about during the day. Sometimes when it is really cold which we were experiencing , the owls are forced to hunt during the daytime.

Owls are thought to be wise because they have impeccable night vision and outstanding hearing that keeps them safe from predators.  Also, in Greek mythology Athena is the goddess of wisdom and the owl is her emblem.

A wise old owl lived in an oak

 The more he saw the less he spoke

The less he spoke the more he heard
